[029] american diary part two.

Day Three - Wednesday 16th June 2010

The house where we stayed. Had a lovely view of the mountains and such. It also never rained.

This is Biggles. Best dog ever. He's so lovely.

I haven't adjusted very well to this whole time difference business. I keep getting sleepy at like 9pm or earlier and then waking up between 6 and 8am. Obscene. Made yesterday seem four days long. But it was good, we went to the mall. Got some massive chav shoes that are actually amazing. Tax is annoying. I miss having to pay the label price.

Made a fantastic first impression on the drive back. I'd had an overly sugary slush drink, and combined with motion sickness, it made me vomit everywhere on the drive way. Lovely stuff.

Last night we went to a lovely restaurant called The Fort for Mark's 21st birthday. It used to be an actual fort, not surprising, and is visited by every president that visits Denver. I'm guessing that's most of them. It was really nice, and I had buffalo for the first time. That was also nice.

Day Five - Friday 18th June 2010

On Wednesday, we went to the mountains ! Quite spectacular. We visited South Park, and the buffalo and prarie dogs. Got tons of photos of the Rockies. Also popped to the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, what amazing concerts must happen there. Bracknell is going to look so dull after this.

Yesterday we went to an American High Street in Downtown Denver. Needs less Starbucks, more clothes. It was also 28 degrees celcius out there. Madness.

Some things I have learnt about America:

  • No matter how 'in the middle of nowhere' you are, there will always be a Starbucks.
  • Don't have a car ? You're screwed. And you cannot rely on public transport.
  • There is no cheese and onion flavour crisps/chips in America. And a normal size packet of crisps is our 'sharing' size.
  • Hot Topic is not as 'unique' and 'cutting edge' here as it is in England. There's one in every mall.
