It's 26 degrees Celsius outside today. Madness. I'm okay with heat as long as I'm prepared for it. I dressed for a normal day, jacket and all, yesterday and was met half way to the train station with lots of sweating and sunshine and the other general annoyances that come with hot weather. Today, however, I am dressed much more appropriately but still without sun lotion. Being without sun lotion worries me. Earlier this afternoon I was sitting waiting for another train in the only patch of shade at Winnersh Triangle train station. But my left arm couldn't fit in it. I was only there for about twenty minutes, but it did turn a little red for a few seconds. Being pale as a ghost you see, I tan and burn very easily.
I've only had sunburn once in my entire life though. It was at a Reading Festival about three years back, when I still told myself music festivals were fun and exciting. I've since accepted that they are a nightmare and a waste of time if you don't like mainstream music and fields and drugs. Anyway, I was sitting in a field with a bunch of people I didn't really like so much (think I lost my real friends or something, who knows, was a while ago now) and it was very sunny. A rubbish band were on (as usual) and I had a strange sensation in my arm. "What is this!" I had a look and my arm and shoulder were completely red. How very strange ! How could this happen to me ! I was informed that this was sun burn. And it bloody hurt. Got a freakishly brown tan afterwards though.
Ten days until mine and Mark's flight to America. He seems unphased while I seem to be constantly listing all the things that could possibly go wrong with it (see previous blog entry). I was since then reminded of the perils of motion sickness and deep vein thrombosis. I'm doomed.
